AYSO 161 Scholarship & Active Duty Military Discount Policy

The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is a non-profit, all volunteer program. Our mission is to provide soccer opportunities to as many young athletes as possible, in a fun, fair, and safe environment.

Scholarship Funds are primarily available thanks to our Local AYSO 161 Sponsors and region parents 'Sponsor a Player' donations. We appreciate and thank them!

•Scholarships
AYSO Region 161 delegates a certain amount of funds each season toward our Scholarship Fund. AYSO 161 has partial scholarships available to help parents and guardians who are in circumstances where the family cannot pay the full player season registration fee on their own.

All families are required to pay the $20.00 yearly National Fee (per player) and most families are asked to contribute toward some of the season cost.

Scholarships are distributed on a first come, first served basis and are awarded primarily on financial need, and secondly on a family's volunteerism to AYSO.

Parents/guardians who are interested in receiving a partial scholarship for their child(ren) need to complete and submit our Scholarship Application prior to the end of Open Registration for that season. Information will be held in complete confidence.

If your player is approved for a scholarship, AYSO Region 161 will provide you with a coupon code via e-mail with the amount to be used during your payment/checkout process of the player registration.

All scholarships are based on the availability of funds. Once designated funds are gone, there is no more for the season.

Procedure
To Apply, the parent or guardian must:

1. Register the child(ren) on this website, but do not pay.
2. Complete and submit the Scholarship Application prior to the end of Open Registration to [email protected]. One application per family. Previous and current volunteerism provided by the applicant family to AYSO 161, will be considered. Having failed to meet previous volunteer commitments or lack of willingness to volunteer will also be a consideration.

•Active Duty Military Discounts
AYSO Region 161 offers a 20% season fee reimbursement to active duty military members. (This discount does not include the $22.75 National Player Fee.)

Procedure
To receive your discount reimbursement, parent or guardian must:
1. Register the child(ren) on this website and pay fees.
2. Email a picture of the Active Duty Military personnel's ID to the treasurer at [email protected] or send your request for the discount from your .mil email address.
3. Upon our receipt of your player registration and your proof of active duty, the Treasurer will apply the 20% Military Discount to your account and issue a refund, typically via your credit card payment method or Region check.
